I was unable to properly migrate to Exchange 2010 and I am having issues with my Exchange 2010 server. This just came to light this evening when I was trying to setup my iphone to active sync with Exchange, it keeps failing. Upon examining my Exchange 2010 server, when I try to go into Server configuration/client access/exchange activesync, I get the message 'The task wasn't able to connect to IIS on the server oldexchangeserver.mydomain.local Make sure that the server exists and can be reached from this computer. The RPC server is unavailable. It was running the command 'Get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory'
My old exchange server is gone, period. The strange part is that before tonight, my active sync was running fine on my iphone, I had to reset my iphone to defaults which is why I have to setup Activesync on it again. Outlook web access appears to be working fine.
In my application event log on my Exchange server, I have event ID 4 which reads:
