New system, just fresh from box store - HP 6-core AMD with 8G Ram, Windows 7 "Premium" (64 bit). Installed Office "Professional" 2007 - but since my CDs are an upgrade I needed to install (and remove) Office XP first. Installed iTunes (fresh download) before installing Office. Also installed (and removed) Palm's sync software for my old Palm TX - Palm does not support Win7 for the older PDAs - alas.
I find that Outlook works well for a while, then starts to hang on Send/Receive (or take a very long time, using up most of one of the cores for several minutes) - only more so after sync with iPhone. Until I sync the phone Outlook is VERY snappy on this machine - after it's almost useless. Once it starts to slow down, anything takes forever - even opening an existing email, or switching to calendar view.
Once it goes sour, restarting Outlook does NOT help. It still hangs. Rebooting the machine fixes it. Until I plug the phone it for the next sync.
Removing the Kapersky A/V helped too, and for a while I thought that was the problem, but problem came back (I installed MSE to replace Kapersky). Also removed and reinstalled iTunes (and all the Apple applications that go with it).
Outlook used to run fine on the old XP machine - sync phone, sync Palm TX, whatever, use it all day, and no problems (mostly - Calendar stopped syncing at iOS 4.0.1, and hasn't recovered yet).
So, any ideas?
