Outlook 2007 crashes on start up, but not in safe mode

Not open for further replies.

This issue has just started. At first I was getting blue screens with " bad_pool_header" when opening emails in Outlook or inputting information into Firefox (like in a Google search), but managed to fix those issues with a system restore. This issue with Outlook is the last thing I am trying to fix.

It appears the faulting module is the mso.dll in Outlook. I have tried scanpst.exe, creating a new profile, running office diagnostics/repair, and disabling all of the Com Addins except the email indexer, without any luck. Outlook does work ok in Safe mode.

Would appreciate any help. Other programmes seem to be working as normal. There are no new hardware or software items.

Joe's answer

Ensure Outlook is not running in compatibility mode:

Click on Start > Computer > C-Drive (C :) > Program Files or Program Files (X86) > Microsoft Office > Office12

Locate the Outlook icon, then do a right-click on it and select "Properties"

Select the "Compatibility" tab then uncheck the "Run this program in Compatible mode for" option

Click on Apply and then select OK
