We've got 2 Exchange 2010 servers both running Server 2008 R2 64-bit. Each server has the HUB/Mailbox/CAS roles installed. We are load balancing through DNS round robin and use a DAG, as well. OWA works fine, and we use a GoDaddy UCC certificate with all of the domains name added to it. Outlook can be configured manually just fine. But Autodiscover fails. When I run a test from Outlook 2010, below is the result I get. I tested using another domain name that uses Autodiscover redirect (hence the lack of SRV records), but the results are the same even for our primary domain. Our DNS settings look correct on the server, so I'm not sure what is causing the issue. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks for looking.

We sure are. We have even tried removing the other DNS records so that we are only pointing to one CAS server. No luck there either.

It looks like you are redirecting autodiscover.domain to mail.domain? The error code is some kind of certificate problem .... client certificate not set to ignore .... certificate name not in the UCC ...

> .. redirecting autodiscover used to always cause me all sorts of wierd problems for so long ago i stopped doing it and made sure autodiscover could resolve directly to the server... but with your error code I'd check those names closely.

if you dont have autodiscover in the cert name anywhere, try setting up an SRV record and point that at mail.domain ... I'm personally suspicious of the cert and the A records.

By steve's analysis I'd chekc to make sure it's set to ignore client certificates ...

Appreciate everyone's suggestions. Here is the XML output from a test I just did.

<DebugData />
</Error>
</Response>

</Autodiscover>

Does it do the same thing with an email address (that's listed in EMC as an email address) for watercoolersuite.com?

Steve,

Thanks for the reply. Here is what I get when running the Outlook autoconfiguration test with a watercoolersuite.com address:

I ran the Autodiscover test at testexchangeconnectivity.com and it passed.

Steve,

Yes, it is set to ignore client certificates, and our UCC certificate has all of the domain names included in it.

Is there any more info in the XML output?

Hi Parkwaytech,
Per the information above, It seems some issue with the autodiscover service on the server. Some suggetions:
1. I would run EXBPA and confirm whether there are some information regarding to the autodiscover.
2. Then I would check the autodiscover directory through:
get-autodiscovervirtualdirectory |fl
3. I would check the scp record through the adsiedit
4. if we confirm all the previous steps all right, I would check the cert for the exchange server, using
get-exchangecertificate
5. above check would also confirm the autodiscover work well in your internal domain
6. for external users using the autodiscover, please confirm the cert SAN contains the autodiscover.domain.com, it is not recommended use other alias for it
7. check the autodiscover record could be NSLOOKUP successfully throgh the internet.
Some information for you:
