Outlook 2010 randomly does not receive emails

Brand new Office 2010 running on new computer with windows 7. Set up to send/recieve email on a POP account over internet. Everything is set up correectly for the email account. It sends fine and randomly recieves email from both POP and internet email (gmail, msn, etc). I am running my old computer with Outlook 2003 with the same email account and has no problem recieving all emails. I can discern no pattern in what email is not recieved, there are no error messages. Nothing in junk email. I will recieve emails from the same address and then suddenly will not get them. Does not matter whether there are attachments or not.

I have tried 1) turning off the email scan on Norton 2) running the repair on Office 3) changing the send recieve schedule to every 5 mintes. Nothing seems to work.

First, make sure you never scan mail with your antivirus program. This is particularly true with anything from Symantec, like Norton. Do this by completely uninstalling your AV and reinstalling without the mail scanning feature. You may need to visit the Symantec web site to obtain their uninstaller tool to truly clean it off your PC before running a custom reinstall. Second, log into your mailbox using a web browser and make sure they're not in the server-side junk mail folder.

Non-delivery of messages is more often a sender problem than a recipient problem, in my opinion.

I need to uninstall and reinstall AV to get Outlook to work properly?? Yes I am receiving the emails at the mailbox and in my Outlook 03 running in parrallel on another computer.

What else can I try?

Do you have "Leave a copy of messages on the server" checkbox checked on both computers?

If not it has to be checked in order for the emails to receive on outlook on both the computers.

To check the above option follow the below steps.

Click Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing email accounts > Highlight the email and click properties > Click More Settings > Click Advanced tab > Check if "Leave a copy of messages on the server" box has a check.

If no, check the box in order to be able to receive emails on both the computers.
