I came to this site to ask and get some answers to my questions. I submitted one a couple weeks ago. Tonight upon logging in, the site said I had 25 messages, 1 like and 3 points (whatever they are). But when I went to my Inbox there was nothing there. Where did the conversation I started go to? Are there any answers?
I can't receive email. I have Outlook 2007. I have at least 2 gmail accounts. I've been using it for years. I can go there and see my new mail, but whenever I use Outlook, and hit Send/ receive , it starts out at 80 or 85% and quickly finishes ... with no mail downloaded. I even tried deleting and re-installing outlook ... to no avail.
Even if I get this solved, the new year is almost upon us and I want to backup my .pst and start a new one called 2017.pst. I want it to show up in my window pane. I've figured out how to create 2017.pst but it's lost. I can't find it. I thought it was in Appdata, but no. How do I get my new .pst to show up?
Diane Poremsky has helped me before. I trust her.
Are you sure no mail is downloaded? Could you be using a view that hides the messages? Can you find the missing messages using search?
Are you using IMAP or POP3 with gmail? If IMAP, you could try renaming the imap pst file and letting outlook make a new one - this (or a new profile) would have a better chance of fixing it, rather than uninstalling outlook.
You have 2007 so the pst file is either in %localappdata%\microsoft\outlook (paste that in the address bar of windows explorer) or in My Documents\Outlook Files - IMAP pst should always be in the localappdata path, but pst files used with POP3 or as stand-alone data files can be moved anywhere. (I forget if 2007 or 2010 was the first to move the pst files) - but it doesn't matter, you can create the new pst anywhere. If the pst was created in the default location, it will show up when you go to File, Open, Outlook Data File. If you still can't find it, search windows for *.pst
When it rains .... I went to that link and got (see snip #1). If you see, I'm logged in. Anyway, I had a letter to send so I opened Outlook and Lo and Behold, my mail arrived ... or most of it. But when I tried to open one I got this error saying "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect." Then it asks me if I want to continue using it. If I say "Yes", Outlook closes. If I say "No", Outlook closes and Office diagnostics comes up. It doesn't find anything but it's nice to know it's there. So, now I'm getting mail but I can't open any of it. The cert. is from hotmail.com and says it's good until sometime in 2019. I'm not a genius but something's wrong. Help? Oh, the letter I was going to send? I couldn't open my contacts so I can't send it.
